. KPEDD's Mission: With spectacular scenic beauty, a high
quality of life, a strategic location, and business-friendly communities, the
Kenai Peninsula offers many advantages for those who wish to relocate, start
or expand a business in the Great Land of Alaska. The Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District (KPEDD)
offers a variety of services for all types of business endeavors, from the
small entrepreneur wishing to start a new venture to assisting established businesses
expand or relocate to the Peninsula. KPEDD facilitates community town meetings
and other forums. KPEDD assists
communities with producing a community action plan. Strategic planning is very important, and KPEDD is here to help
rural, under-served communities. By
documenting the community’s values, vision and priorities, economic
opportunities are easier to identify.
As the first federal Economic Development
District designated in Alaska, as well as the first Alaska Regional
Development Organization or ARDOR, KPEDD has actively pursued development
opportunities for the region. Over
its lifetime, KPEDD has been involved in a variety of projects, including
public works projects, shellfish industry development, international trade,
promoting a North Slope Natural Gas Pipeline to Cook Inlet, building
infrastructure and industry recruitment. Funding is provided by the Economic Development
Administration (EDA), the Kenai Peninsula Borough, and the Alaska State Department
of Commerce, Community and Economic Development. In addition, private and corporate donors
as well as income from rental property allow us to operate our services and
facilities without debt. Many business and community leaders have
volunteered this past year to Economic Development activities organized by
the District. Strong community
involvement allows us to maximize our service to the Peninsula. If you would like to participate in
enriching life on the Kenai, please access our Technical Assistance Form and return it to us. If you need to contact us by email, just
